hey y’all, thank you again for your energy and participation in the filipino martial arts class.

— here’s a short list of fma practitioners i was able to find in the NE categorized by region and best hyperlink (of the states that the people in class asked me about)

if you search on your own, i recommend you play with the following terms, ‘kali’,  ‘escrima’, ‘arnis’, ‘fma’, ‘filipino martial arts’—all words that lie within our lineage of practice.

You may also look for ‘JKD’ or ‘Jeet Kun Do’—this style was developed by Bruce Lee with filipino martial artists like Dan Inosanto, and leans on very similar ideas of learning and applyin whatever feels best for you. There are lots of energy drills in JKD that are taken from multiple martial arts: hubud (what we learned), sombrada, lap sau (wing chun), and push hands (tai chi) to name a few.
