Thraax

Paladin of Vengeance, Treasure-Hunter

What follows is common knowledge as it relates to your character.

The Treasure Hunting Clans of Acra
The Ghost City of Acra is filled with innumerable groups of people vying for power and resource. Of these groups, the most successful tend to be the most organized. Here are a few that Thraax may have run into during their travels.

  • House Alonzoro | Symbol: Copper Harpy Eagle | House Alonzoro is a ‘tall-clan’, meaning they are relatively few in number but very skilled. Members of Alonzoro are often proud of their affiliation and are wont to tout it in negotations. membership is primarily merit and network based, allowing the clan to curate weak members out.

  • Danix-Ferld Company | Three Hands Grasping | or simply: Danix Company, this clan is known for being straight-laced, professional, and very corporate. Danix-Ferld is an ‘Asset Clique’ (Zaibatsu), with highly diversified operating sectors. The Treasure Hunting company is only one of those sectors. Anybody can apply to join the Danix Company, but only a few are formalized every year.

  • Sesstke Hook-Corps. | Abstracted Chainmail | The Hook-Corps are a mediuam sized clan of treasure-hunters known for being good natured thrill-seekers. They make their presence known with bright colors and flags, signaling others not to be afraid of their presence. Nowadays, most find work as guides more than treasure-hunters, but their strong-hold [ The Arcology at Arat-Fa-Den ] is one of the safer and popular tourist destinations in the Outskirts.

  • Denizens | Falling Arrows | The Denizens mainly keep to themselves. Their hideouts are hard to find, but they are known to build and leave shortcuts where ever they go, in the form of zip-lines, makeshift bridges, new passageways, etc. In practice, their secrecy is a double-edged sword—as there now exist many conspiracy theories and superstitions regarding the Denizens.

  • The Dimeritium Caliphate | Hollow Dwarf | While the Nation of Hollow Dwarves is not strictly a treasure-hunting organization, they are well-known participants of the artifact trade, often found at the heart of many deals or initiatives. Specifically, the Caliphate is concerned with safe-garding Dimeritium artifacts.

On Dimeritium
Dimeritium is a naturally occuring metal ore that has the quality of subduing magical energy. Though its existence was known and used for ritual purposes by many cultures, the smithing of dimeritum is an art that is rarely mastered.
Of note, many Dimeritium artifacts have been found in Acra, implying that that ancient civilization that was present made prominent use of the material.
Raw dimeritium acts like a sponge. Its auric density attracts magic particles into it, practically shutting down any nearby magical devices or spells. Leave an enchanted item next to dimeritium long enough, and it will lose all its magical qualities. The same seems to go for people.
